OfficeMax...NOT Exceptional SERVICE TODAY

Normally when you ask me about OfficeMax I cannot possibly laud them enough, but today the experience was far from stellar, in fact it was pretty sad. Which did allow me to connect with some feelings around being of service, being heard, and feelings of abandonment.

To share, I walked into the store, right to the section I wanted to get to, to purchase an internal drive for a laptop. I was approached by a gal (and yes she'll remain nameless, but when her manager reads this, she will be spoken with, and should be).

The experience started off great, I found what I needed and was then offered an extended warranty plan which I declined as OfficeMax does have a nice return policy if something does not work and since I have installed more than 100 of these drives myself, the chance of anything going wrong on that side...slim to none.

It was after that refusal of the warranty that things went south. As she walked off to get my drive, she saw another customer, approached them and instead of saying "I'll be right back, let me finish with this gentleman", she began to get into a lengthy discussion with this other customer and walk them around the store showing them things as if I did not exist. I had to double check that I was there and in fact I was.
I finally had to grab another sales person to get the drive from the back of the store which he promptly did and it was waiting at the front for me when I arrived.

Prior to that the woman who'd first approached me came back and gave me a casual "oh, I'm sorry, if you want I can have someone go in the back and get your drive for you" as she has her arms filled with goods for this woman who is looking at her and shaking her head.

I laughed and said "Nope, already handled by another salesperson, but I'll be more than happy to write about this experience on the web"

a 5 minute trip turned into 20 minutes.

Now there is a lesson to this as when I was coming out of the parking lot there was some evidence of multiple speeders and an opportunity for an accident. I will thank the universe for the delay imposed by this person, but she did not appear to be in her body when she was with either me or the other customer so one can only presume that she'd had a rough evening, or some difficult news at home.

For the record this happened at store #427 in Scottsdale, and it's a store that I frequent as I love the service there. Today was a sad exception to another otherwise pristine set of experiences. I hope this assists in a remedy for such things. Other customers might not be as polite as me in their responses.

Another PayPal fake email to share

This is an example of a rank amateur sending out one of these things. However, do note that some people will actually click the link thinking they'll get a quick $99 in their account. They won't. Instead they'll end up with an infected computer and a world of problems. The highlighted sections are for your attention to be drawn to.

Things to note:

FROM: this is not from a legit paypal email server

TO: Never will paypal send you an email to Undisclosed anything. Always they will use your full name

Received: this is a domain in france

Received: the 4th received line indicates a user NAMED AMarseille with a specific address using a server in france (real braniac there)

XMAILER: Microsoft Outlook Express - Never used in a business the size of PayPal. What do they use? It's not this.

And then there's the clue of the link to click on. Not even a PayPal link. No graphics included in the email, PayPal always sends out an html based email with its graphics embedded (included) within the emails they send out.

Now this email could easily have been faked through this server, but that's not your concern. If you received something like this, the best thing to do is to forward it to and let them know you received it. They will send it to their fraud division for investigation.

Support...Does it matter? Answer = YES

So the question today is one that I feel needs answering on a number of
levels. Companies who operate within the US should hold themselves in
today's age of twitter substantially more accountable and responsive to the
needs of the public. This includes those who operate small businesses from
their home and share resources with clients and friends alike.

Stop outsourcing support overseas and start taking time to work WITH customers. Talk WITH them.
Don't talk DOWN to them. They pay your paychecks by purchasing your products.
Stop focusing so much on the new Ferrari and focus more on giving back and helping
others achieve the results you promise in your advertisements. If you can't then admit it
and get back to the drawing board. Some software changes lives. Filing is important.
Doing it digitally does things to help our planet as well.

Now, granted this past weekend was a holiday weekend. However, when support
calls are responded to on a holiday weekend that means someone is there
taking responsibility for things. Bravo. But, it does not mean that the
solution to your software product not functioning with a specific printer
model is for the client to bag their current printer (for any reason) and go
get a new one which is less capable than what your QA department decided to
test with.

Yes I am serious.

Let's take the company who has grabbed my attention antennae today:

They make a scanner akin to the Paperport Vx scanner of many years ago
although Paperport really kicked their butt in the performance and
compatibility section these folks wish to make a play in the document filing
space. Their software allows people to scan things such as receipts and
such, but when using their scanner apparently they're able to glean much
more information from the receipts or papers, get OCR done on them and have
some magical filing system created from this. I am all for ridding the
planet of paper.

However, they also wish to play in the Macintosh space and that's where I
come in. They make a product called Neatworks for Mac. It's NOT a Macintosh
product. It has some potential, but generally when developers take a PC
product and make it a Mac product it's counter-intuitive and it's never
really made fully compatible with the BIBLE of UI books (now on the web)-
Apple Human Interface Guidelines

People never seem to read these things now and that's perplexing for me.
When you design a program to work on a computer system should you not at
least read the guidelines and allow all of the keystrokes to work? Allow the
right dialogs to pop when there's a problem, support printers that use
Preview (the application under OSX that scans) correctly within your

One would think so, but they'd be wrong where Neatco is concerned.

Folks you have much to learn about program design, but you have MUCH MORE to
learn when it comes to support.
If I'd ever told a user to go and buy a new computer because they could not
run Pixar's software on it when I worked for Steve Jobs, he'd have had me
drawn and quartered and then he'd have gotten angry.

To tell a customer that their printer does not work, they need to downgrade
to a lousier one because you did not test or even try to support the
higher-end Office Jet printers from HP...You're HIGH. HP would be more than
happy to help you with this problem if someone in your organization would
pick up a phone call them and say "Hi, this is Neatworks Support, we'd like
to borrow an OfficeJet 6500 printer so we can make sure our software works
with it so we can sell our software to people who use your products and make
them happy".

That's what you do. You don't tell the customer that things don't work,
here's the instructions for configuring a lower end product and we're not
supporting the higher end printers. OUCH. When that happens you publicly get
smacked by someone like me who has been on the front lines of support and
would never stand for that. I'd be knocking on doors at development asking
why we don't support the higher end. I'd take my own paycheck go to Costco,
buy the printer for $150 take it to work and give it to development to make
sure it worked. Anything to help my company make a customer happy.

I am more than happy to rave about a product that has a team that at least
is trying, but to push back like this one did...not something I can sit
silently by and not speak up about.

So, here's what I did. I called my Apple Store, I told them the story and
they said: "Mr. Murdock, we'll help you out, bring the software back and
we'll give you a refund, we appreciate your business".

I returned, logged into Mail, went to the message from Nuance offering a
Paperport 12 offering at an unheard of $29.99 and I bought that! Thanks Nuance & Digital River
for a flawless transaction.

If Neatco wants to set things right, they can package up one of their lovely
little NeatReceipts for Mac Printer & Software packages and ship it to me at
my POBox. I'll then think about saying something nice about that product once I've
seen whether or not it actually does what's advertised. Because the
Neatworks for Mac product alone gets -

0 out of 5 DMs ( a DM is a DocMurdock Approved Rating. 5 is great, 0 is
"don't touch this with a 10 foot pole".

Thanks for taking time to read this long drawn out explanation, but some
things have to be addressed. Hopefully this saves a lot of Mac users a lot
of hassle.

Yet another fake paypal email

Just to share with you this one, I just received. Am highlighting the issues inside of if so you can see where the fakeness is:

So all the info in yellow is the fake things. PayPal did not send this. They don't use Outlook Express to send emails out. They always use your proper information and they never ask you to click a link in an email to verify anything.

The link below in the email will drop all sorts of things on your computer when you click it, so never do that in these emails, simply forward them to and then delete the original email.

More fake holiday emails

Okay, here's two. The first is from BOFA (or supposedly from them), What the person sending it does not know is that I closed my BOFA account over 4 years ago and have never looked back at BOFA. So they send this email asking me to click a link. Not happening. What you can see in the header information of the email is that it's sent by some place in MEXICO it appears. OUCH.

This next one is from Sharebuilder. What's funny about this is that I have an account with them, but with a classified email address that they'll never figure out. The funny part about this message is that it's sent from OUTLOOK EXPRESS. I guess these guys could not afford a new netbook with Windows 7 yet!!!

The sad part about it is that someone else receiving this message may react quickly and click the link. Not a good thing. Just delete these messages when you see them, they are NOT from the place that they appear to have been sent from.

This email originates somewhere around Norway according to the tracking numbers in it. Best thing you can do is delete these. I dig into the header information in them just for kicks and to see what things people are doing.

Am not sure if a webinar would be helpful for some to cover this, but if so, let me know and we can put on one.
Remember to just delete these emails. Don't click on anything in them, and do not forward them to me, simply delete them.

The picture below is from a FAKE email being sent around trying to get people to click links in them and go to websites, sign in with your information and give the crooks a way to:

a. steal your identity
b. empty your bank account
c. both

You'll see them more and more often around this time of the year. A lot of them from Paypal (it appears, but really not them). If you receive one of the paypal ones, simply forward the email to them at and they will set out to alert all of their clients about it. They're really good about following up on them.

Please watch out during the holidays and don't get taken to the cleaners by some Scrooge.

Can I have payments?

If you're asking for payments when payments are not offered, you're thinking in lack & limitation. When you're ready for a product or a service, the avenue will show up for you to be able to get what you seek. Don't always seek the shortcut as it's a way to create more lack in your sphere. We know that's not what you seek to do.
What we find is that more who show up in complete resonance with something, the more success they have in it. But when they seek to get all of something and they're not prepared to pay for that product or service, but they want it all now, they desire it all now, they must have it all you feel the scarcity perpetuating as a result of the fear of never being able to achieve full payment with it? It's right there in those words. If you don't see payments offered, ask for that which you desire, but if the answer is that payments are not available then it's in complete integrity with you to stop, breathe, and know this is not the right time for you to be with this product or service as it may distract you from your actual path which you're on.

Timing is something that will appear for you when you have room in your sphere for this. Breathe, know that it will be as it's supposed to be and that you can achieve this.

The means and the path by which you can achieve it shall appear.

c. blogs are nothing more than websites that allow a user to more readily add content to them. Some are easy to perform SEO on as a result of plugins, some others are complex and do not allow the flexibility desired so they're more difficult to promote to the search engines.

d. You may, or you may not. It's never the intent of SEO to produce more sales. The intent is exposure of your website to your target market as a result of their search and to render a result to them of your brand being very visible to them within the results of their search. Top 5-8 results.

e. For your business what SEO really does is to increase exposure of your website in the search results of what people are seeking on the web. Can it increase sales? Sure it can, but that's never the intent. It's the wish and the dream of many that it does, but the plain truth of the matter is that's NOT what the purpose of SEO is, and this is where many SEO's get in trouble because they don't set or manage customer expectations correctly.

So...Who are The Many?


Thanks for taking time to read this note as hopefully it will clarify some things for some. I know it will help to solidify that which I asked for and was granted several months ago, and it's always fun to remember when it happened and what's happened as a result of it because it's so amazing.

Having been a study of law of attraction and the spirit it was due to happen at some point, but one could not pick an exact time. What has happened did so at the perfect time as that was deemed by a power greater than mine. I merely opened the channel of request and was granted that which I requested.

It was a day a few months back when I was sitting at my computer responding to various messages on twitter of all places when I was sent a series of messages from someone centered around "TIME" and a concern that there was never enough time, time was missing, they wished they had more time, etc. I was thinking to myself "Why is this person hitting me with these things about TIME?" When in my head I heard a voice simply say "Time is of no concern, there's more than enough time".

When that happened I literally glanced around the room looking to see where the voice was coming from. It was within that moment that I felt a series of chills and then a feeling of being hugged. Nobody was in the room. I was completely alone. I knew that something amazing was going to happen, I did not know when, but this was a good clue.

So I went on about my day and did things, came back to twitter in the evening and there were more messages about TIME. Concerns about time, not enough time, etc., And again the voice "Time is of no concern, there's more than enough time". So I responded to one of the messages and said "This sounds like something I am writing about TIME, I think you'll like it when it's done", or words to that effect.

I then got a bunch of messages asking when it was going to be done, they needed this thing now, could I send a draft, etc. I was in shock, when the voice came back and said "Pay Attention", I responded with a note simply saying "Before this night is over, this will be done".

I had no idea what I was going to say, what I was going to write, how this was going to happen, I only knew that it needed to happen. So I took a deep breath and asked the Universe for some help.

"Universe, I know that I am worthy of receiving all that I ask for. I am deserving of the same, I am tired and weary of questioning my worthiness and I ask to be shown, to be shared with, and to be a channel of messages to any and all. I commit to share what is presented to me in an unfiltered fashion so that they may know these are not of me, but of many beyond this time and space, please bring this to me now so that I may answer these questions of TIME and so much more"

In the time that I said that and took another breath there was a massive question mark that formed in my head and I asked "AM I TRULY WORTHY?" the voice came back and said "YES, YOU ARE WORTHY, and it because YOU HAVE ASKED, SO SHALL YOU NOW RECEIVE".

My entire body felt like it was on fire. My hands flew across the keyboard and I began to type. In what seemed like hours I typed and typed and typed and finally in the end I looked at the clock and a mere 10 minutes had passed in human terms of time. I laughed as I looked at the clock and it literally jumped forward 10 minutes to signify to me the passing of that period of time.

What I then began to hear in my head were voices. Not voices of a strange nature but voices of love, of connection, of clarity, of knowledge, wisdom, understanding. Many, many voices. I did not know what to call these voices as there were so many of them. At first I called them the 100 as there was literally 100 of them coming at me, but now it feels so right to simply name them as "The Many". They speak in different voices, but when they have a point to get across it comes through as a clear harmonious chord of information that that's flowed through me and shared outwardly to others with unconditional love. No judgement, no blame, no shame.

So when I speak and you notice that I type as WE, that's them coming through me to you. Simply put I get to be Me, Michael. I maintain my freedom of choice and of being the person that I am, but I speak at times with a voice that carries with it range, color, and toning of the many. I've spoken with spirituals who've witnessed this and been delighted at it. It's fun to be able to share with all that which is seen from the broader perspective and I am so grateful and humbled to have been chosen at this time to do so.

I am also grateful for the mechanism of places like facebook, twitter, and others to allow me to speak as this and to share what comes through. It's interesting to see the reactions that surface in others and what comes up around what's shared. We share without reservation as that's what was committed to. You're welcome to question this and we encourage that you do as that's how in your heart you'll see that you two are worthy of the connection to source. It's literally there for the asking. It's when you start with your heart, connect deeply to know, and begin to know without question that you are deserving, that this channel opens and it never ceases to flow.

Mac OSX 10.6.2 is out

Mac Users: OSX 10.6.2 is out. Make sure you do a software update after quitting all of your running programs. It's a bit snappier, seems to use less ram memory to run with, and my Mac Mini is running cooler since installing it, so there may have been some efficiency updates that they're not disclosing :) I love those!

Strange Macintosh Behavior

Have you ever opened your Apple Mail and there's no messages bolded so it appears as if you've read them all? Or you send out a message and the font is bold even when you tell it not to be? This happened to me this morning and I found a quick solution that saved me from rebooting the computer.

QUIT the FINDER - Now your questions is probably two fold, but basically the Finder is what you look at when you're looking at your screen and the Apple Menu in the upper left has the word FINDER next to it like so:

How do you quit the finder? Simple, Go under the Finder menu to the last item on the menu and select it. It's the QUIT function.

This will cause all of your icons sitting on your desktop to vanish. To bring them back, simply click on the Smiling Face Icon at the far left of your DOCK

When you've done this, the icons will magically reappear. Notice also that when the Finder is not running, it's like any other application in that the little glow dot is gone from underneath it.

When it's properly restarted it gets its dot back as seen below.

If you were having the same problem as I was with Mail, the problem will now have vanished. Relaunch Mail and see that now your unread messages are back to being bolded and when you write a message the font is no longer all bold.

If you're busy...

If you're BUSY, are you really achieving anything out of the BUSYNESS? Probably not. Normally busyness is created when you don't have a plan and you're grasping at straws. Work even though a four letter word some despise can be fun and enjoyable when it's your passion. So breathe, know you deserve great things, that everything you need to achieve your goals is lining up for you, and just go for it. FEAR? Imagined & created resistance by others to stop you due to their lack of belief in them. You know better :) We love you.

Turn Website Visitors into Prospects & Prospects into Buyers

There's a ton of science around this subject, but I will distill it down for you very quickly so that it's not confusing. I have the power to help you turn your website visitors into prospects and those prospects into buyers.

Michael Jackson - "This is It"

Having grown up on the music of the Jackson 5, the Jackson's, then Michael it's been a roller coaster of a musical life and to see the news a couple of months ago and all that's happened, it's sad to see that he's physically gone from us.

In the spiritual sense he's still here with us and speaking to us each time we listen to one of his songs or think of him. So yesterday it was fun to have Maria say to me "Let's go see "This is It" tomorrow". I could not wait to go see this after seeing some of the footage and hearing the reviews. I wanted to see it for myself.

Most concert style films that you see are very documentary-ish and laden with lousy cuts from some editor looking to do his version of things. In looking at this film I think that Michael would have been proud of what they did with it. It was fun to see him dancing, signing, talking to people during the process, coaching the dancers, singers, musicians on how HE wanted his music played, sang, performed. He was very spiritual in his conveyance of desire and what struck me so was that he was humble in his requests.

He also took time to thank the maker as well as each and every one on the crew for their giving to him of their talents.

Recommended? Oh yes, you bet. Will I buy the DVD when it comes out? Yes, it will be added to our collection. The songs were well done, the music well performed, this is truly a nice tribute to a musical mind lost too early. He did not look 50 in this film and he did not look to be ill at all. He looked amazing and fluid as always in his moves. No hesitation whatsoever and every dancer who watched him move did so with great respect and admiration as well as applause.

Do yourself a favor, if you are a fan, go see this movie. If you're not a fan, go see this movie. By the end of it you will be a fan.

For those of us who grew up on Michael's music and dancing this has been tough. I remember where I was when I first saw the Moonwalk on Motown's 25th. I was at a club in Santa Monica down by the Pier standing there sipping margaritas with some friends when I looked up and saw Michael take the stage to sing Billie Jean...and like he was on oil he slid his shoes back and up back and up so rythmically, stopped spun and landed up on his toes, the entire restaurant went nuts. We all yelled, applauded and never realized that this was musical history in the making. The next day there were people all over town talking and trying to imitate the dance. Months later they began to and the rest is history.

There's so much more Michael did for all of us and I am only going to cover those things which I believe to be true here. I want to say thanks Michael for the memories, the music and helping all of us see a better, younger part of ourselves.

Is YOUR shipping system broken?

Maybe it is and you don't know it yet. However, if I place an order with your company and it does not do certain things, you will read about it here, and on other places as well. It's my mission in this time to ensure that the processes work and that the customer does not end up paying for a misstep in your mission to provide excellent customer service.

Case in point: ClubMac/MacMall

First off, let it be well known that I LOVE MACMALL. In fact I still wear my bright yellow "CALL THE MALL" TShirt out to coffee which makes my wife cringe everytime she sees it since it's old and from a MacWorld long ago.

But, that being said, I used the Club Mac side of things to place an order for a very small part and it caused a breakdown in their system which showed the age of things, so this needs to be mentioned so that it can be fixed.

Now, to give you an idea of the timeframe here, the last time I used the billing address in question was when I lived in a town called Burlingame, CA. We're talking 2003, so roughly 6 years ago. I've placed orders in the MacMall/ClubMac system since that time using newer addresses, and even during this year 2009 have placed orders using my current billing address in Scottsdale.

The system asked me to confirm my information at the time of ordering, which I did and everything said Scottsdale. I then received an order email which my burlingame address as the Billing address.

So is my problem that the Burlingame address is in there? Yes. Did it slow up my order? Yes, in fact it put it on hold and the system never notified me that it was on hold. In fact, this is where the breakage is.

I ordered on the 26th, and was expecting a part to be delivered today the 27th. This was the shipping I paid for. Instead it should now be delivered on the 28th. They're not reducing the shipping charges, nor offering any kind of credit. That's not right.

When a shipping address and a billing address do not match, there should be something in the system that flags the order, initiates an email to the customer and asks them to call a specific department to get this resolved. This did not happen. Had I done nothing, as I was told, the order would have sat in the system as they don't have this type of an action in place. It's 2009 folks, it's time to update the shipping software or very simply run it on a MAC so that it gets done right.

I hope that MacMall takes care of this problem. When I receive my part, I will be filing a question of charges with my credit card company to bring this to their attention that charging Overnight shipping for a 2 day shipping when you have a problem with your system is NOT good customer service.

Additional IOMEGA incident info

A side note that escaped me when posting this morning and is an important one, so it's best that it is separate. Product registration. When you purchase a product & you take your time to go to the website of the product producer and register it, I believe you have every right to expect when you give them your serial number to look up that they will see all of your information and be able to expedite the shipping process etc.

(By the way, IOMEGA's California Based Shipping Warehouse closes at 1PM EASTERN TIME which is (repeat after me) LUDICROUS since the warehouse is located in California, so automatically anything you place even an expedited RMA onto will be delayed by 24 hours, and no there is no discount afforded you because you had the problem late and were not able to get through their support mechanism in time to order the replacement before 1pm Eastern Time.

The Agent working the phone with me was in shock that they closed at 1pm. He said "WHY?" Heck you're asking me Pal? I'm the customer who has to pay you for a used product to replace my defective product that was sold to me in the first place!

Oh! so back to that registration information we're going along and all of a sudden he asks me for my shipping information. I said "it's the same as my registration information". He then tells me that even though customers register, the information is not placed into a database that can be accessed by the technical support people handling the replacement of a product.

Okay, so is Mickey Mouse running IOMEGA now? NO! Why? Because he has a job at DISNEY! Come on people It's 2009!!! It's NOT 1997 or 1998. It's 2009 and you can buy apps over your iPhone that will do what this company's website will NOT do which is put into usable form customer data so that customers are actually served when they call in vs. inconvenienced.

IOMEGA needs to know that there are better products on the market and they need to be serving the public better. Especially this part of the very vocal public that will spill the beans about their crappy service to everyone on the planet who purchases computer parts, and quickly.

Angry? Not really. Disappointed? OH YEAH. Buying another IOMEGA Product? SURE about the time that horn-boy starts serving icewater in that place known as HEDOUBLE-HOCKEY-STICKS!!

IOMEGA...What the hell happened to your support???

Back in the early days of IOMEGA it was fun to watch the company. In fact it was fun to see the Motley Fools talk about how much the stock was going to gain so that we could all day trade it and make a fortune (I did), and know others who were with a company called MetaTools who simply (inside traded it), but that was then and the statute of limitations is probably up by now right Julie? :) LOL Yeah I kept those emails.

But back to my point, what happened to your support? To say it's downhill is an understatement. Let's go to the video tape shall we! Well no because I am not going to invest any more into this adventure other than to warn others away from these products. I am stuck with one because for now it's the only thing out there in a good looking MacMini form factor that will provide the USB and FIREWIRE ports I require.

1 Terabyte MiniMax drive. Purchased from less than 4 months ago. About 2 months ago it starts not mounting completely when powering on from Windows to OSX in my MacMini. See the Mini has a split drive which allows me to run OSX in one partition and Windows in a bootcamp partition. That all works flawlessly. So I bought the MiniMax to add some additional USB/Firewire functionality to the computer system. It worked great for about 2 weeks, then started not mounting completely. I did some drive repairs with no problems.

Time passes, I make backups to the drive, kept it fairly full and all of a sudden the drive verify fails the other day and says backup and reformat the drive. So I did that. Restored data to the drive (thank goodness did not delete that stuff), and today the drive sounded like there was a collection of hamsters holding race day inside it. No fan in this unit (whoever designed it that way should leave the planet as this sucker gets HOT). So I call Iomega. Am told on the phone even though the drive is under warranty to do a 1on1chat with an agent and he'll help out and this is my quickest solution.

4 Months of stability for a hard drive (SEAGATE 1TB is pretty SAD. It's gotta be an issue with heat doing in the drive that quickly)

The agent typing was the slowest typer on the planet. My mom can type faster than that and she does not even type. She can write faster than that and she's not doing well in the writing areas. But wait!!! The best part is yet to come. Cost to replace the drive is $40.00. Okay, I guess paying $40.00 for your defective drive unit is ok...not really, but okay and I am going to get a brand-new-unit right? NO SIR. YOU'RE GOING TO GET A REFURBISHED UNIT.

HUH????? What happened to sending out new product to replace defective product? Where's the service? And since when does UPS Charge to create a prepaid shipping bill? Hello?

IOMEGA used to provide top-notch support for its products. I for one after having owned many of them am in the process of throwing out every IOMEGA product that I own and will only keep the MiniMax when it comes in after I have opened it up and installed a fan into it so that it does not fry the eggs off my Mac Mini anymore.

BEWARE when shopping and when dealing with returns that you are being provided NEW Product, not used garbage when a company charges you for anything.

IOMEGA treat EVERY customer like they have twitter because some of us do, and we do know how to use it.

Let's take a step out onto a limb here a bit and discuss something of concern to all. Want to throw out a scenario to you and see how you feel about this. I believe you can comment back on these postings, so please do.

A company on the internet engaged in one form of business has some bad luck doing some things, angers a bunch of people, its upper management gets into some kind of disagreement, one partner leaves, one stays and things shift.

If this sounds like any company out there...well it should because you know who you are, and you sort of brought this on yourself when you asked someone to call me on my weekend and try to sell me something :)

The sale is NOT the problem. The problem is the lack of listening (the person on the phone spoke perfect english), but when he was requested or actually informed that I was not interested, it was like talking to a brick wall to get him to stop. Finally I hung up on him after requesting that my number be removed from their list and that we not be contacted again.

The phone was silent until today. The very same individual called and when I asked him "Do you remember calling me yesterday, being told I was not interested, and asking for you to remove me from your list?" He said "Oh yeah that was you, so I'd like to sell you this product/service, what kind of business are you in?"

I was a bit taken back by it. First thought was he's green, so I'll speak to his supervisor and ask him to get me off the list
"Pardon me, do you have a supervisor I could speak with about this?" and he replied ", so can we help you with the financial needs of your business, what did you say those were again?". I hung up on him again.

What some companies do when they don't listen to people is they turn them off for future business. Now in the days of old, it was a bit difficult to get the attention of many people and some could care less about what happened at that point in time. Then along came this thing called the Internet and in recent years this thing called TWITTER. Thank GOD for TWITTER.

I say thank GOD for TWITTER because as I am writing this, I know that the CEO of that company is reading a direct message from me and that when he sees this email he's going to say HOLY SH*T I can't believe what I am reading amidst everything else that is going on with my company now this has to happen.

It's pretty simple Mr. CEO of that company that for the moment will remain nameless. There are some of us in the SEO community that do not wish to be engaged by your company for any reason, much less to be provided with funding. You're NOT in the funding business, and if you are, you're newborns compared to the people who we refer that segment of business to so we're not interested in trusting you with our capital or anyone else's that we know of. We have funding sources to refer out to and we're quite happy with them.

The lesson here is one that's pretty simple:

A. TREAT EVERY CUSTOMER Like they have a TWITTER account. Most of them do. Address their concerns immediately as this can be pretty instant a reflection on you and what you're doing out there.

B. If you have people in your organization ignoring the privacy laws and persisting in phone harassment some states consider this stalking and seek prosecution based on that.

C. There is always another customer out there, if you're doing a legit business, the only want to actually increase your NO count on the way to a YES is to call unique, new clients, not going back to the well just to get a NO. Karmically it has an opposite effect and leaves you stuck.

D. Pay close attention to all of the previous as they will save you from being embarrassed and people asking you for a refund because they don't wish to be associated with your products, nor promote them.

So Mr CEO of Mr. Company that is to remain nameless for now, do myself, my family and our privacy a favor and respect that which you and your phone droids seem to have such a blatant disregard for. It's in really bad taste what you're doing and it will not be tolerated much longer.

Was fun today running all over town searching for things for my daughter's first birthday. Well not her first, but my first with her. See she was born 26 years ago and her 27th is this next week. We only met 2 months ago and my life has not been the same since then, so to go shopping for her for something she's going to really love and cherish made this day very special for me.

 The other fun thing was to call her and play with her a bit, I'd call her, her phone would be busy, she'd call me, my phone would be busy, at one point I left her a funny message, she called back and I pretended that I was a voicemail message before I could beep, she'd hung up the phone. We both laughed when I called her back and she apologized profusely for hanging up on me. "You sounded so much like a recording" she said. We both broke out laughing. Now she's just tickled that on Monday she'll receive a package from me. She's telling everyone that this is her first birthday with her real father.

 Now that's where this is amazing. Being a real father, being a father, or a parent, being chosen by an angel to bring them into this world is something special that many are gifted with, yet they don't take seriously, or they discount it, or rebel against it. Obviously it's all choice, we choose our parents who chose their parents, etc. Just that when we come into the human experience we forget all that and chock it all up to just some thing that happened along the way and so on.

 I am so grateful and humbled that an angel chose me as a parent. Chose my girlfriend of the time as her mother. Out of all of the others out there, we were chosen to bring this one into this life and to give her the choice to be here, to learn, to live, to grow and to share her light with many. We're truly blessed. She is amazing.

 So what things did you do this day, did you venture out in the world to share with others. Did you connect with you? To the light that is you? Did you take time to let your heart know that you care for it and let your body know how appreciative you are of it being able to carry you around and take care of your energy as it does? If not, take a DocMurdock Love Break and HUG you. Tell you that you love you and that you are grateful to you for being the you that you are. Your body, your heart, your soul will thank you for that moment that you do this in.

 You are so deserving of the great light that you are and of all the wondrous things coming to you in this lifetime. Just opening up your heart and creating a space of allowing them to come in and be with you will help you manifest so much more in this life.

 I want to take a moment to share with you some words from some who speak with me often. They share life in this time from a somewhat broader perspective and I am honored to be able to share these things as they stream through me to you.

 We see much. We see the ones who struggle, the ones who break free, the ones who question and the ones who are in the place of knowing and understanding. We see them all. What's fun for us to see is those who were struggling and all of a sudden they get into that place, that moment of being open to receiving and that space of allowing, then they simply ask of the universe that which they've desired to have come forth and when it does their eyes and smile light up like stars in the sky on a clear night. We see the joy, we see the sorrow, we feel the happiness and the pain, but we also see the promise in those who commit to themselves, to honoring the light that they are, to trusting in the knowing that they can achieve all, and those who take the time to breathe, to seek peace, and to just simply be present in the moment with themselves, for when they are, they receive into their hearts the clarity that shows them the path to take to achieve that next step that they've tasked themselves to achieve. You are one of those people, you have the love in you. We see this. You have the desire in you. We see that. We also see the fear that you have, the questions you have and the breathing that if you took a moment to do, all would become clearer to you. We're here to support you, to guide you, to share with you the wisdom of ages, all you merely need to do is close your eyes, and through the asking you shall see what you will be doing next to achieve that which you seek. And so it is.

 Thanks for taking the time to read this. I hope you enjoy the story of my daughter Amanda. I am so proud of the wonderful woman she's become. I am so thankful to her Mom for raising her and also for sharing with her our story and lastly I am thankful to my wife for standing beside me as this wonderful gift came into our lives. We are forever changed and forever in a state of gratitude for all. I am forever grateful for those of you who come to read and appreciate this.

Shoutback...Apologize to Microsoft? ARE YOU HIGH?

Apologize to Microsoft? Okay, who's the prankster that let that idiot write a story like that. Obviously he's a Microsoft proponent who has a stick up his backside over something that he could not get on the iTunes Store because it was developed in direct conflict with the rules set aside for developers of apps for the iPhone. GET OVER IT. Apologize to this (insert very large middle finger right here). Get a clue. When you're developing something to sell for a platform that is structured, you either follow the rules of the provider or your app does not ship. Google broke the rules. They know it. They tried a fast one and they're paying the price for it. Apple has rules for development as well as a look and feel for its applications. They are called Interface Guidelines for a reason. They're tested, they're refined and they're very consistent which makes it easy to know you're on a Mac or an iPhone because of the way things function. Apple had to bend its own rules for development on the PC to put certain things in certain places, but they did it. Apple's apps still look better on a PC than other PC apps do. Why? Because they're still solidly developed apps with a basis in human interface to machine design. Microsoft on the other hand has consistently produced bad software and has ruthlessly copied Apple from day 1. Now, why don't you go and write something from Microsoft Apologizing to MILLIONS of people for having screwed up their computers with the ever-loving always on Mail Preview in Outlook Express & Windows Mail which allows an html resident trojan to be launched the moment a mail message is opened? Why don't you do that because I personally know of more than 10,000 companies that lost BILLIONS in downtime because of that little error. Did Microsoft ever cop to it and annie up any dead presidents over that? NOPE. What did they do? VISTA!!! Wooohooo!!! Vista with all it's issues and OH the upgrade price...many flavors and wait for it!!!! YOU NEED to BUY A NEW COMPUTER BEFORE YOU CAN USE IT!!! (DO NOT COMPARE SNOW LEOPARD to this as Apple has been telling people for more than a year that it will only run on an Intel Mac). Microsoft led everyone down a rosy path and then with only a few months till launch said "Oh, but you'll have to buy this and that and the other") So before you go apologizing for Silicon Valley as a whole, you really should go back to school and do your research as some of us have busted our asses to clean up the messes that Microsoft has perpetuated on our clients, not the little miniscule amounts of things that you're trying turn into Mountains related to what Apple is being put into the news over. some research on your stories because some of the 'facts' you purport like ALL NEWS PEOPLE are somewhat contorted to "make the news". Email Tip of the Day

If you receive an email from your own domain and it's labeled something like the following:

Subject: Your Account has been Suspended

and then it has something attached to the email in the form of a ZIP file and asks you to open it...DON'T

This is what's called BAIT & SWITCH

The bait is the subject line. Of course you're going to open it if it's from your Administrator right? Well 99% of you don't have an account administrator. You've set up your own domain name or you've had someone like me do it and we've never created such an account.

Also never would an admin send you an email like this with a zip file attached saying "Here open this you idiot" because most of them know you would not open it.

But there are a number of you out there who are in reaction and will see this kind of thing and open it instantly. When you do, please note that your computer system is now what we like to call "compromised".

What I mean is it's sort of like standing on the side of the road and dropping your pants to show the entire world what color underwear you're not wearing today. Not a good thing.

Reach around the back of the computer and disconnect the cable that you have connected to your modem or cable connection or whatever. If you're on a laptop, turn OFF your wireless connection disconnecting you from the internet immediately.

Then contact someone to help you eliminate the virus/malware that has just been released onto your computer. Most of the time what will happen is something will be dropped that will lay and wait for something else to happen. Other times it simply knows where to look for programs that contain financial information, passwords, etc and it gathers it all up and waits for you to send out your next email to whoever and it piggybacks its way out of your computer with your info, drops it on the net somewhere and proceeds to tell everyone or it's creator where your bank is and how to get to your accounts.

Is this serious? OH YES. Should you be worried? If you opened up that zip file, or even worse opened it up and clicked on whatever was inside of it...YES.

Always make sure you are running a virus protector and malware protector of somekind on your computer system for times like this.

Whether you are on a Mac (less likely to be affected) or a PC (more likely to be affected and damaged), you still need to exercise caution when looking at emails and be slow when it comes to opening an email because you just never know what will be trying to get out of there.

Pagerank of 0 attained

You know on Alexa a ranking of 0 would mean most popular, but on Google it means least. My website after my postings about GMAIL being down yesterday dropped from where it was originally at a 6, to a 3 and now to a 0 and has fallen out of listings for the term: internet business consulting where it was number 2 for more than the past 12 months.

Why? Because the search engine higherups had it pulled. Or there is some engineer over there who is about to get fired for getting the company such bad press as when I get to finding who did this...well his butt is grass and my keyboard is the lawn mower. :)

I would not be surprised if Larry, Sergey & even Eric were at the bottom of this. After all why should they let anyone back talk about their company and their flagship mail product and bash it because it was not available most of the morning yesterday the 20th of August 2009 during the hours of oh around...I'll have to go back and check my posting on posterous because it was at that time that I was engaged in phone conversation and had to get to the email store.

But to muck with pagerank for a site that does not break rules, that is compliant with webmaster specs, and that helps people get ranked onto google, yahoo, bing...that's just sad boys.

So when you come down out of the piss and moan tree and want to chat, my iphone is available for you to ring.

I still stand by my convictions that GMAIL is not perfect, it's coming along, but it does have major stability/uptime issues that with the billions of dollars you kids are making, you should be able to provide a much better infrastructure for it and should seriously consider firing the joker who lets this service fail more than 10 times in the past year for no really good reason. Failover works. I know. I helped build clusters of computers using Sun Cluster with Oracle Parallel Databases and were able to pull plugs off machines, crash them hard and using that software keep the services up and running when one or two machines failed. So with your people and some hot programming, why not have something similar keeping your mail service up all the time.

All that said, the childish crap of delisting a site from your index which has been an avid supporter of your technologies over pointing out a chink in your armor....GROW THE F**K UP. (and if you personally had nothing to do with the delisting, then fire whoever took it upon themselves to do it and accept my apology for pointing a finger at you Three.
